Peter Russell is on the faculty of the Institute of Noetic Sciences, a fellow of The World Business Academy and The Findhorn Foundation, and an Honorary Member of The Club of Budapest

At Cambridge University (UK), he studied mathematics and theoretical physics. Then, as he became increasingly fascinated by the mysteries of the human mind he changed to experimental psychology. Pursuing this interest, he traveled to India to study meditation and eastern philosophy, and on his return took up the first research post ever offered in Britain on the psychology of meditation.

He also has a post-graduate degree in computer science, and conducted some of the early work on 3-dimensional displays, presaging by some twenty years the advent of virtual reality.

In the 1970s, he was one of the first people to introduce human potential seminars into the corporate field, and for twenty years ran programs for senior management on creativity, stress management, personal development, and sustainable development. Peter Howard RussellCC FRSC (16 November 1932 – 10 January 2024) was a Canadian political scientist and professor emeritus of political science at the University of Toronto,[1] where he taught from 1958 to 1997.

Education

Russell was an alumnus of the University of Toronto Schools,[2]Trinity College in the University of Toronto, and Oriel College, Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.[3] He was also a member of the Toronto chapter of Alpha Delta Phi.[4]

Academic career

In the 1960s, Russell was asked by the Royal Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism to study the Supreme Court of Canada's approach to language. As a result, since 1969 all the Court's decisions are published in both English and French, and simultaneous translation is provided for court hearings.[5]

Irwin Peter Russell (16 September 1921 – 22 January 2003) was a British poet, translator and critic. He spent the first half of his life—apart from war service—based in Kent and London, being the proprietor of a series of bookshops, editing the influential literary magazine Nine and being part of the literary scene. Bankruptcy and divorce led to several years of travel which took him to Berlin, Venice, British Columbia and Iran, amongst other places. After the Iranian Revolution he settled permanently in Italy, where he spent the rest of his life. He lived in considerable financial hardship and throughout all he lived a life dedicated to poetry. His work never became mainstream, but it is highly regarded in some circles.
