Biography:

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, December 27, 1953. Attended Baltimore City public schools; Towson University, B.A. (early childhood education), 1976; The Johns Hopkins University, M.S. (educational management), 1985. Two children.

Baltimore's first female mayor. As president of the Baltimore City Council, Dixon became interim mayor upon Martin O'Malley's inauguration as governor on January 17, 2007. Dixon became the first woman elected mayor on November 7, 2007. Mayor Dixon resigned on February 4, 2010.

Sheila Dixon

Sheila Dixon (born December 27, 1953) is an Americanpolitician. She was the first African American female mayor in Baltimore, Maryland. She was also the third African American mayor in Baltimore.[1]

In 2016, Dixon unsuccessfully sought election as mayor of Baltimore. She lost to Catherine Pugh. In the 2020 mayoral election, she barely lost in June 2's primary to Brandon Scott. [2]

Dixon was born in Baltimore, Maryland.

Controversy

In 2010 Dixon was convicted for embezzlement. She resigned after the conviction. She used her power for the benefit of her campaign manager and her sister Janice.[2]
