George Barris (June 14, 1922 – September 30, 2016) was an American photographer and photojournalist[1] best known for his photographs of actress Marilyn Monroe.[2] He was born in New York City to Romanian parents.[3]
Barris had a lifelong interest in photography, and as a young man he worked for the U.S. Army's Office of Public Relations. Many of his photographs of General Dwight D. Eisenhower were published. After the war, he became a freelance photographer and found work in Hollywood. He photographed many stars of the 1950s and 1960s, including Elizabeth Taylor on the set of Cleopatra, Marlon Brando, Charlie Chaplin, Frank Sinatra, Clark Gable and Steve McQueen.
Barris is perhaps best known for his work with Marilyn Monroe, whom he photographed in 1954 on the set of The Seven Year Itch, and in 1962 at Santa Monica beach, and in the Hollywood Hills in a series

San Juan High School graduate George Barris, known to millions of car enthusiasts and collectors around the globe, has been involved in making custom cars and specialty vehicles for Hollywood film, TV and music industry since the early 1950’s.
The age of the Hot Rod had arrived by then and George Barris and his brother Sam (now deceased) were called upon again, and again, to thrill and dazzle with their outrageous and cutting-edge car creations. Films such as Hot Rod Girl, Hot Rod Rumble, Cool Hot Rod, and of course the ultimate 50’s low rider film from Warner Bros., James Dean’s Rebel Without a Cause, which launched Barris into the big time.
In the 1960’s, Barris was already the ultimate Movie Star car kustomizer. The biggest stars and musicians in Hollywood lined up at the studio in North Hollywood to have George create and kustomize their cars including John Wayne, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, The Beach Boys, Sonny & Cher, Sean Connery, Peter Fonda, Jerry Lewis, Bob Hope and Bing Cr

GEORGE BARRIS
George was born in Chicago in the mid twenties. In 1928, he and his older brother Sam moved to Roseville, California with relatives after their parents died. They both were excellent students especially in drama, music and drawing. George pursued a passion for building scratch-built aircraft models which led to model cars. He won competitions for construction and design.
The family gave the brothers a 1925 Buick in need of repair for the work they did at their restaurant.
This Buick became the first "Barris Brothers" custom car. The old Buick needed much attention and their creative urges to make it different took hold. They straightened the body and added bolt-on accessories before George hand painted the car in orange with blue stripes. It was promptly sold to purchase a 1929 Model A.
The brothers interest in cars intensified during their teenage years as they discovered "the black art" of body work by hanging out after school at local bodyshops, including Brown's and Bertolucci's in Sacramento. George created his first full custom from a used 1936 Fo
