Shyam Mankikar, ShiraliSat, January-26-2013, 3:40Nalkur mam was a very colse friend of my dad (Parmeshwar Mankikar). Both my idols. When our Swami Parijnyanashram needed a car (in 1970) and the Math had no budget for one, Nalkur mam wrote a check for Rs.13,000 and bought Swamiji a brand new Fiat Padmini! Those were the days when our Math was going through severe financial trouble. Nalkur mam has written several checks to help the up keep of our Math! Lily Aunty was amazing. Her Konkani was better than any of us, and she was more Sarawat Brhmin in her ways to put us SBs to shame. There was no Twitter in our days, but he had 2 many followers!
