New teen queen would rather be a doctor
NEWLY crowned Miss SA Teen Moloko Masemola says she is done with beauty pageants and will focus on her education.
The 17-year-old winner said she wants to become a doctor.
"I just entered for fun and I think this is as far as I will go with pageants. I don't fancy being Miss SA," Masemola told The Times.
She said one of the main reasons for her wanting to become a doctor was so that she could help children born with a cleft [incompletely formed] palate.
"I would like to specialise in reconstructive surgery.
"[Correcting a cleft palate] is not just cosmetic - these kids find it hard to breathe as well. It would be wonderful to be able to give them a smile.
"I love my smile and want everyone to have that," the beauty queen said.
Masemola, who is a pupil of Bryanston High School, in Johannesburg, is preparing for her matric next year.
"If I want my dream of becoming Dr Masemola to come true, I have to make sure that I get good grades next year.
