Segun ArinzeListen (born Segun Padonou Aina[1] in 1965) is a Nigerian actor[2] and singer.[3][4][5][6][7]

Early life and education

Segun was born on September 24, 1965, to Lydia Padonou in Onitsha, Anambra State. He is the eldest of seven children.[8] He hails from Badagry, Lagos State. He attended Victory College of Commerce Edidi in Ilorin, then proceeded to Taba Commercial College in Kaduna State to complete his secondary education. He studied Dramatic Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State. He is popularly known as "Black Arrow" which he gained from a role he played in the 1996 classic movie "Silent Night" a film by the late filmmaker Chico Ejiro.[9][10]

He was married to fellow Nollywood actress Anne Njemanze, which later became a short-lived marriage.[11] The couple has one daughter, Renny Morenike, who was born on 10 May.[12]

Starting at an early age of 6, Arinze had always been enthusiastic about drawing realistic portraits on paper. Being exposed to his family’s paper conversion business, arinze grew to love paper and pencils as his toys at a very tender age. Over the years he gradually taught himself how to harness both pencils and paper in harmony as a medium to express himself through what he calls his three p’s namely patience, practice and persistence. These have guided him throughout his journey as an artist.

Francis Arinze (born 1 November 1932) is a Nigeriancardinal of the Catholic Church. He was Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments from 2002 to 2008 and before that led the Secretariat for Non-Christians (later renamed the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue) from 1984 to 2002.

He has been a cardinal since 1985 and the Cardinal Bishop of Velletri-Segni since 2005. Arinze was one of the principal advisors to Pope John Paul II and was considered papabile at the papal conclave that elected Pope Benedict XVI in 2005.

Early life

Arinze was born in the tiny village of Eziowelle, Anambra, Nigeria, to a family of peasant farmers who practiced a local indigenous religion.[1][2] He followed a brother in converting to Catholicism[1] and he was baptized on 1 November 1941, his ninth birthday, by Father Michael Tansi, who was beatified by John Paul II in 1998.
