Niki Karimi ( نیکی کریمی‎ ) was born on 10 November 1971 in Tehran. She is an Iranian actress, director, and screenwriter whose first steps in acting were made in theatrical groups in elementary school. Niki Karimi's appearance in Mehrjui's film Sara, which was an adaptation of Ibsen's A Doll's House, won her a Silver Shell for Best Actress at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain and the Best Actress award at the Nantes Film Festival in France. Niki Karimi is a self-thought Visual artist best know for her works as film maker, writer, photographer, actress and producer.

Born in Iran, Tehran, She began working in cinema from age 18.
Her works ranges from bold portraits of women in Iran, injustices and human existence and conflicts.

She worked with Abbas Kiarostami from 1996 to 2005 as his assistant, camera men and actress.

In 2001, she started film making by making a documentary about infertility entitled “To have or not to have” which has been premiered in Barbican center and Ifc in London and later in many festivals.
In 2005 she made her directorial debut film entitled “One night” which was screened at Cannes Film Festival, Uncertain regards. After that (One night) has been shown in numerous international film festivals. “A few days later” premiered at “Rome film festival” was her second film. Final Whistle and Night Shift were also screened at acclaimed film festivals around the globe and also got jury award in fajr film festival in Iran.

Niki Karimi (Persian: نیکی کریمی; born 10 November 1971) is an Iranian actress and filmmaker.[1] Regarded as "the most prominent figure among the young generations coming after post-Islamic Revolution Iranian Cinema",[2] she has received various accolades, including a Crystal Simorgh, three Hafez Awards, an Iran Cinema Celebration Award, and three Iran's Film Critics and Writers Association Awards.

Born in Tehran, Karimi began her career in the late 1980s. She received critical acclaim for her performance in Sara (1992), for which she won the best actress award at the San Sebastian Film Festival.[3]
