DeMarcus Omar Ware (born July 31, 1982) is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Troy Trojans and was selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the 11th overall pick in the first round of the 2005 NFL draft. After spending nine seasons with the Cowboys, Ware departed in 2013 as the franchise's all-time leader in quarterback sacks with 117. DeMarcus Ware is widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive players in NFL History. He is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and is a Super Bowl Champion. The former NFL defensive end and outside linebacker played in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos and earned a reputation of being one of the best to play in his position. He locked in seven consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl while playing for Dallas and a further two with the Broncos and named to the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team. A dangerous pass rusher during his career, he played a key role in the Broncos Super Bowl 50 win over the Carolina Panthers, before signing a one-day contract with Dallas, so he could retire as a Dallas Cowboy.
In 178 regular-season games, Ware totaled 657 tackles, 138.5 sacks, 127 tackles for loss, 35 forced fumbles and 25 passes defensed. A four-time first-team All-Pro selection, Ware led the NFL in sacks twice during his career (2008 and 2010) and he is one of six players since 1982 to record at least 10 sacks in seven consecutive seasons.

Ware was instrumental in Troy’s transition to the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2001 and finished his Trojan career as the program’s all-time leader in tackles for loss with 55.5. He finished his career with 27 sacks for a loss of 198 yards to rank among the all-time greats in Troy history.
Ware became a starter in 2002, and quickly made an impact in the trenches by finishing fifth on the team with 72 tackles. Along with the former Troy and current Atlanta Falcon defensive end Osi Umenyiora, the duo combined to record 25 sacks and 40 tackles for a loss.
In his sophomore campaign, Ware finished tied for 15th in the country with nine sacks, while his 19.5 tackles for a loss were tied for ninth in the nation. In 2002, Troy State’s defense finished fourth in the country in total defense as the Trojans’ allowed 276.8 yards per game.
