Leon Eric Brooks III, better known by his stage name Kix Brooks (born May 12, 1955), is an American country music artist, actor, and film producer best known for being one half of the duo Brooks & Dunn and host of radio's American Country Countdown. Prior to the duo's foundation, he was a singer and songwriter, charting twice on Hot Country Songs and releasing an album for Capitol Records. Brooks and Ronnie Dunn comprised Brooks & Dunn for twenty years, then both members began solo careers. Brooks’ solo career after Brooks & Dunn includes the album N “KIX…Walkin’ Away, The Final Show,” the band’s final performance ever, took place September 17 2023 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Sep 17, 2023 BALTIMORE, MD (May 8, 2023) - It is with heavy hearts that KIX announced their retirement from performing live. Lead singer, Steve Whiteman made the announcement from the stage at M3 Festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion on May 7, 2023. "After much thought we have decided to call it a career,” said Whiteman. “It was obviously not an easy decision to make, but the right one at this time in our lives for our families and the band.” KIX’s final performance ever took place September 17 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. “KIX…Walkin’ Away, The Final Show” featured the original band members Steve Whiteman, Brian Forsythe, Ronnie Younkins, Jimmy Chalfant, and Never one to stand still, Kix ventured into the movie business with his production company Team Two Entertainment where you will find him in front of and behind the camera. In July 2015, Steak Out With Kix Brooks premiered on Cooking Channel. The series featured Kix setting out across the country to find some of America’s best steakhouses. Additionally, Kix raises Beefmaster cattle on his farm just outside of Nashville and is also a founding partner of Arrington Vineyards a highly successful winery and special events venue in Arrington, TN. Kix continues to give back to his community through his involvement with organizations such as the Country Music Association, Operation Finally Home, Veterans Matter, Tennessee Tourism Board, and the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. In December 2014 Kix was named the first recipient of the Country Music Association’s Humanitarian Award.
