Olatunji Adedeji Okusanya a.k.a Tunji MIC (right) was born on November 12, 1953 on Aroloya Street, Lagos Island. He was the pioneer of modern pallbearing business in Nigeria. He attended Christ Church Cathedral Primary School Ita Faji, Lagos Island from 1961 to 1967. He then went on to Molusi College, Ijebu-Igbo and graduated in 1971. From 1972 to 1974 he worked as a Clerical Officer with the Lagos State Ministry of Education alongside learning the carpentary trade under his father. He left Lagos to further his studies in England. He attented Central London College from 1977 to 1981. At the same time he was a part-time student of Business Management at the College of Distributive Trades, also in London. On his return from the United Kingdom in 1981, he joined his father at his Magbamowo Industrial Company, with a view to developing his carpentry company into an interior design business but he saw the niche in the funeral business and went back to England to further develop his understanding of the funeral trade and secrets of the professional undertake

Mrs. Bolanle Okusanya-Feyita, the eldest child of the late founder of MIC Funeral Services, Mr. Tunji Okusanya, in this interview with TUNDE AJAJA, talks about her growing up, education and some misconceptions people have about working with the ‘dead’

Children are known to dread the sight of caskets, corpses and other things related to funerals. You grew up to meet these things around you, what was it like?

Yes, we grew up to meet those things, and that is why for me, I haven’t known anything different from this kind of work. There has never been a time to fear because that is all we have always known from as early as I could remember. Then, even at that young age, we would go to my dad’s work place, and be playing around caskets. And you know children enjoy doing hide and seek. So, for my (late) brother and I, we would go and hide inside one of the caskets in the office, because we believed that was the last place for anybody to check while looking for us. OLATUNJI ABIMBOLA OKUSANYA – BIOGRAPHY

He was born on Tuesday , the 12th July, 1983 to late Mr. Olatunji Adedeji Okusanya and Mrs. Omobola Okusanya (nee Erogbogbo) in Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria.

His early education began at St. Child’s Nursery school in Surulere, Lagos 1985 to 1988.

He had his primary school education at St. Saviour’s School, Ebute-Metta, in Lagos from 1989 to 1994

His secondary education was at Ronik Comprehensive School, Ejigbo, Lagos from 1994 to 2000. He was a punctuality prefect.

Tunji okusanya, Junior, as he was fondly called, obtained a Diploma in Psychology from the University of Lagos in 2001.

To further his carrier, he enrolled in Unilag 9University of Lagos) and bagged a degree in Banking and Finance in 2006.

He was a Believer in the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was baptised as a child in 1989 at St.John’s church Aroloya, Lagos Island. He personally affirmed the Christian Faith as an adult at The chapel of the Healing Cross, Idiaraba, Surulere, Lagos In February 2004.
